Terms of sale

To be completed: the trading name and legal form of the business, its registered address, its company or tax registration number, and a contact email. This is not optional decoration — in most of the places this shop will sell to, a distance seller has to identify itself before the sale, and it is also the first thing a cautious collector looks for.

Nothing in this catalogue is stocked in quantity. Each lot is one specific item, listed once, illustrated by a scan of that item rather than a representative photograph, and sold once.

This is why placing an order takes the lot off sale immediately, and why it cannot be bought by anyone else while your order stands. It is also why an order cannot be edited to add another copy: there is no other copy.

Adding a lot to your cart holds nothing. The catalogue continues to offer it, and it may be sold to somebody who orders first — a cart kept in your browser can be weeks old, and the price and availability shown in it are what you last saw, not what is true now. Both are re-checked against the current catalogue when you check out.

Placing an order reserves each lot in it. From that moment the lots are off sale and the price is fixed at the price the order records, which is read from the catalogue at that moment — not from your cart.

An order is an offer to buy which we accept by confirming it. If we cannot fulfil it — a listing error, a piece found to be misdescribed on re-examination — we will say so and cancel it, and the lots go back on sale.

All prices are in United States dollars. The price you are charged is the price recorded on your order when it was placed, and a later change to the catalogue does not alter it in either direction.

Catalogue values shown alongside a lot are references from the standard catalogues, given for orientation. They are not a valuation, not an appraisal, and not a claim about what a piece would fetch.

Payment methods are offered at checkout. Some confirm themselves immediately; a bank transfer or a Payoneer payment is confirmed by us once it arrives, and your lots stay held for you in the meantime.

An order holds your lots for 72 hours. If it has not been settled by then the hold lapses on its own and the lots go back on sale; nothing is charged and you are welcome to reserve them again. Tell us and we will gladly hold them longer.

To be completed: whether any sales tax or VAT is charged and to whom. That needs a commercial decision and an accountant.

Every lot is described individually. Condition and centering follow standard trade usage. Where a fault exists it is stated in the description rather than left to be discovered.

Much of this catalogue was imported from records kept over many years. Where a description carries an obvious typographical error in a date or a catalogue number, the scan is the authority, and we would rather you asked than assumed.

Items accompanied by an expert certificate are marked as certified and the certificate is shown. Where a certificate is absent on material that would normally carry one, the description says so.

We ship worldwide. One postage fee covers the whole parcel, charged on the value of the order rather than on the number of lots in it: up to US$ 50 is US$ 6, up to US$ 200 is US$ 10, up to US$ 1,000 is US$ 15. Orders above US$ 1,000 carry no postage at all.

Import duties and taxes, where they apply, are the buyer’s responsibility and are not included in anything shown at checkout.
